Film sculpting has been a very satisfying career for me. Working with-in the confines that are set by either size limitations, time constraints, budget or any number of things that can make each project challenging, is what keeps this line of work interesting. Keeping the Production Designer satisfied is also a big part of the job and being able to create what the Production Designer envisioned or embellishing what they envisioned to their liking is always rewarding. A lot of what I do is a collaboration of other talented people. I work closely with plasters, mold makers, painters, carpenters and others in the film trades when the work requires their participation to achieve a cohesiveness to the art direction. I also enjoy working with the other sculptors on collaborative projects. It’s always fun to be around creative people with like minds and when a large sculpted project comes together as a result of a collective effort, it reinforces my enthusiasm and the validity of the film sculpting trade.
